National Archaeological Services Ltd.
Providing a nationwide consultancy service for large and small scale private and commercial development
Commercial Development
There has been considerable growth in the level of development within Ireland in recent years.
Archaeology has increasingly become a significant element with that development process. The need for professional archaeological management is therefore essential as part of an overall strategy
Why Archaeology?
There are many ways in which a commercial development may need the services of an archaeological consultant. Modern planning regulations often require different levels of cultural investigations necessary to granting of permission. This is due to the development’s location near a known national monument or area of archaeological or historical interest
It may also be necessary due to the large size and scale of the project to investigate the land prior to development due to the potential for disturbance of hitherto unknown areas of archaeological or historical interest.
Therefore it is vital to any development that these concerns are handled properly and in a timely fashion so as not to impede or halt the process of construction. It is only with a common sense approach and full cooperation between the developer, the archaeological consultant and the state bodies that any development can proceed unhindered.
At National Archaeological Services we provide all the necessary pre-development paperwork and licence applications necessary to enable the archaeological process to go forward. We also offer advice in how to best deal with plant, adverse conditions, local issues etc.
